Amanda's story
How long have you been at Guild Group?
I am the Head of Strategic Sales at GuildLink, and I joined Guild Group at the end of May 2019, making it 15 months. When people ask me how long I’ve been at Guild Group I have to pause, as the time has just flown by!
What was the moment you knew you’d made the right decision to work at Guild?
When I delivered the first piece of work to a client. When we deliver to our clients at GuildLink, we are assisting them to provide better health solutions and quality health care to their customers – the Australian public. As a pharmacist, this is a key reason I get up every day.
What makes Guild different from other places you’ve worked?
The size of Guild Group and the resources available because of this. Aside from work, there are special interest groups forming within the company, allowing you to connect to other like-minded people. The Women in Guild group which recently had an event last week over lunch time, giving people the opportunity to come together and hear about the successful women in our business, how they got to where they are and their experiences.
What are the things at Guild Group that matter to you the most?
The relationships I have with my amazing colleagues and clients. Positive working relationships are the key to being productive and satisfied.
What experience have you had at Guild that have made you feel like you’ve owned your role?
Being able to bring our customers along on our journey. When I joined GuildLink, we were in a transition period and earning our clients’ loyalty and trust was a huge part of my role. Seeing our clients’ thoughts about GuildLink change and become positive over this past year has reminded me that I do own my role and my place in the Guild Group.
When you tell people about your job, what is the one thing that surprises them?
That I am a pharmacist now working in IT. There are so many different career opportunities for pharmacists if you are willing to expand your horizons.
What is a hobby or passion you have outside of work?
Baking. I love cooking, and especially desserts and cakes as it is one of the few creative outlets I love (I’m not great at other creative tasks!)
What is your favourite place to travel?
I love New Zealand, for its sheer beauty, and London – a place I could go back to hundreds of times and still find something new on each and every trip.
Is there anything that you’ve accomplished outside of work that you’re particularly proud of?
I’m really proud of the fact that I am a Bonus Mum (a phrase I got from a wonderful blog, as “stepmum reminded me of Disney princesses like Snow White and Cinderella” who never had a great time with their step mothers) to a beautiful 7 year old boy. I love the time I get to spend with him, and he is growing to love things that I loved as a child and sharing those with him lights up my life (he was never to going to have a choice except to love Harry Potter with me as his Bonus Mum 😊)
