'I am proud to work for an organisation that continuously strives to put employee engagement and wellbeing first'

Harini Tennakoon Business Analyst, Guild Group

Harini's story

How long have you been with Guild?
I have been with Guild for more than 7 years now. I came to Guild for a temporary role in December 2012 and then I joined as a permanent employee in April 2013.

Tell us about your time at Guild
I joined as an Administration Officer in the Insurance Operations Team. Since then I moved to Business Process and Systems Team as a Business Process and Systems Specialist and then to my current role as a Business Analyst in the Technology team last year.

What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy the fact that my role provides me the opportunity to work with the Business Owners to understand the customer needs and deliver innovative, customer-centric solutions.

What was the moment you knew you’d made the right decision to work at Guild?
As a working parent, soon after migrating to Australia, the work life balance and flexibility the company offers plays an important part. When I started working, my daughter quite often got sick settling into full time childcare/Melbourne weather. Guild has been very supportive and understanding and helped both me and my daughter settle into our respective full-time roles. At that moment, I knew I made the right choice, because Guild displayed the traits of an employer who cares about their employees.

What has been one of your best days at work?
I enjoy every day at work, but I especially enjoy team gatherings since they offer the opportunity to better connect with my colleagues and build relations – lunches, conferences, team events etc.

What makes Guild different from the other places you’ve worked at?
I am proud to work for an organisation who continuously strives to put employee engagement and wellbeing first, whether it is in the form of FLEXIT (Guild’s flexible working program), D4YD (Dress For Your Day) or Uprise (Employee Assistance Program).

What experiences at Guild have given you the opportunity to create or work on something new?
Recently I worked with Marketing on Renewal Campaigns and successfully coordinated the delivery of the changes, which is a challenging exercise since that involves 12 different variations for Member/Non-Member/Grads/ Liability/ Business Packs/Images/Brochures/ and more. As well as redoing/retesting the changes to accommodate the communications to be COVID-specific.

When you tell people about your job, what’s the one thing that surprises them or gets them excited about the work that you do?
The fact that my job is never boring and offers lot of diversity and challenges. I have been working as a Business Analyst in Technology for less than a year now and in that time span, I was involved in Production Support, Strategic/Operational initiatives and the Guidewire Upgrade.

What are you most proud of?
Personally, I am most proud of my daughter.

What is a hobby or passion you have outside of work?
I love to go for walks and bike rides with my family and on my own.
